Unit Groups from $1250 - $7195
RPL from $1250 - $7195

Firefox Training offers this nationally recognised training to individuals who are working towards becoming a fire technician in NSW under the Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS). The training is customised to assist in students’ industry skills and to improve their employability.

Course Duration & Structure

A large portion of this qualification is delivered online via our industry leading Learning Management System. Once registered, each student can access and complete the learning materials via both desktop and mobile devices. Our interactive training mixes text, video, and embedded learning checks to ensure students are kept engaged. Each student will have access to our fully qualified assessors via online messaging throughout the duration of the course.

Once all the learning requirements have been achieved the student is ready for the practical assessment. This can done in a number of ways. If the student is working with a suitably qualified mentor, the assessor can work with the mentor to determine competence via workplace experience, written and verbal assessment pieces along with video uploads to support this. Alternatively, where practical and viable, an Assessment Block may be able to booked to be delivered at a suitable venue by the Assessor, provided the student has sufficient exposure to experience in the workplace in order to meet the complete assessment requirement of the course.

Recognition of Prior Learning & Credit Transfers

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment only process. RPL captures evidence from a student who has learnt a relevant unit in other courses, from life or work experience, and from any training at work. This ‘Prior Learning’ must be relevant to one or more of the units of competency they are enrolling in. A student who is assessed through RPL as competent in a unit is deemed to have completed that unit in the course.

If you believe you have completed a unit of competency in another formal learning experience, you may be eligible for a Credit Transfer (CT). You will have to provide a certified copy of the Statement of Results or Statement of Attainment through the enrolment process as evidence. If a CT is identified, you will not have to complete the unit again.

If you have any questions about the RPL process, your eligibility, or the evidence you would be required to produce you can read more about it here, or get in touch with us here.

Qualification & Statement

On successful completion of the units, students will be issued a Statement of Attainment. Dependent on the number and combination of units, the student may be eligible for a Certificate of Qualification — Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing.

Pathways & Career Opportunities

Students will develop skills that lead to:

  • Work opportunities that include scope to carry out work in some Australian States and Territories
  • Increased employability within the Fire Protection Industry
  • Further study to obtain other Units of Competency which are relevant to a variety of fire occupations.
  • Units of Competency that may assist in applying for licences from:
  • Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme — FPAS (NSW)
